

Plateau – Tragedy has struck in Irigwe community in Plateau State, as suspected gunmen launched three separate attacks on April 8, 2025, barely 24 hours after the mass burial of victims from previous attack on Hwrea village.
The attacks, which occurred in Zashi of Kperie, Kwall district, MODACS Hotel, beside the College of Accountancy Kwall, and Twin Hill (Gyu) of Miango district of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulted in the deaths of two innocent individuals.
The victims Mr Abba Sunday Ngah, 19 years old, and Mr Azie Daniel, 47 years old, were brutally murdered in a cold blood.
The militias who stole Mr Ngah’s motorcycle, leaving the community in shock and grief.
The Irigwe Youth Movement has expressed deep concern over the incident.
The group is also urging the authorities to take immediate action to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Youth Movement, (IYM), Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, communities are enjoined to intensify vigilance as the attackers have shown no signs of stopping their atrocities.
“May the souls of our loved ones find solace with the Lord.
“We will continue to seek justice for our slain brothers and sisters and for the peace and security of Irigwe land”, he said.
The attacks are part of a disturbing trend of violence and farm crop destruction that has plagued Irigwe land for some years now.
The community is calling for urgent action to address the situation and bring long peace to the affected areas.
