The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma has announced the immediate revocation of all Certificates of Occupancy issued by his predecessor Rochas Okorocha in Owerri the State Capital.
He posted this in his official Facebook page ten minutes ago as part of the resolutions reached at the State Executive Council meeting some hours ago.
Hear him:
“The Imo State Government after due deliberations at our weekly State Executive Council meeting, have ordered for the immediate revoking of all Certificates of Occupancy (C of Os) of all illegally allocated plots in and around the State capital”
“Council equally approved the restoration of the original names and plans of all layouts within Owerri capital territory”.
“These decisions are sequel to the adoption of the white paper on lands and related matters which were recommended by the Panel of Inquiry on Lands in the State”.
“It will be recalled that the immediate past administration had set up a Panel of Inquiry to carefully look into the issues of lands and related issues. This is coming at the instance of avalanche of complaints and series of allegations bordering on illegal and forceful acquisition and take over of lands by the Governor Rochas Okorocha’s administration”.
“We decided to continue with the Panel since it is geared towards Justice, equity and the general good of the State”.
“By this development, we hope to rekindle the hope and trust of our people in their government and in the coming days, we will ensure that all matters bordering on lands and related issues will be swiftly dealt with accordingly”.
