The FG will not rest until the social media is regulated in Nig. — Lai Mohammed

The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, says the Federal Government of Nigeria has not given up on its determination to regulate the social media.

Mohammed disclosed that the administration of Muhammadu Buhari will not rest until all social media platforms are regulated in the country.

The minister revealed this in an interview with NAN in Washington on Wednesday.

Mohammed renewed intention to regulate the social media which sounds like a transferred aggression from a trending news which says, he sneaked out of Nigeria to meet with Twitter executives in the US is thumbed down by almost all media houses and media stakeholders in Nigeria.

Putting the records straight, the Minister denied that he sneaked out of Nigeria as alleged, but that he came to the US to meet with international media organisations and think-tanks on the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, and efforts made so far in tackling insurgency, banditry, and all forms of criminality.

“When you talk about fake news and its dangers, we need to take it seriously, and I am happy that the entire world is now seeing what we saw more than two years ago. I can assure you that we will not rest until we regulate the social media. Otherwise, nobody will survive it”. The minister insisted
