Bank theft has continued to increase on regular basis after series of security measures put in place by the central bank of Nigeria CBN to stamp down crime has declined.

However, the recent hacking of customers’ accounts by a bank staff that is supposedly protecting the interest of customers is indeed taboo to the banking system in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, in Oyo state NIGERIA, a 36-year-old banker with a first-generation bank, identified as Adeyemi Tosin, was arrested for allegedly siphoning N10 million from the bank account of a 78 years old customer Oladele Adida.

Investigation revealed that he was arrested for allegedly siphoning N10m from the customer’s account in Oyo state NIGERIA.

According to the Spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Adewale Osifeso, who confirmed this in a statement released on Tuesday, August 17, the bank account of the 78-year-old victim was domiciled at Challenge, Ibadan branch of the bank was drained between August 12 and 13, 2021.

Further investigation has revealed that the victim’s woes started when his ATM card got trapped in the ATM Machine after a failed transition at the Challenge branch in Ibadan, on July 12.

Mr Oladele was said to have approached the banker for assistance at the banking hall, which made him divulge his account details to him in good faith without knowing the banker’s criminal intent.

The suspect opened a virtual account with another bank where the victim’s money was lodged, with the intention to gradually withdraw money from the victim’s account.

At the time of this report, the case is still under investigation as the police are making a possible effort to crack down on the criminal network and other accomplices in the fraudulent business.

This will no doubt affect the overriding interest of the banker- Customer relationship since the affected bank is not actually living up to the desired expectation.

The matter is under critical Investigation by security operatives at the time of this report.
