I first read this wonderful and noble achievement on the Facebook page of former managing director of the Sun newspapers, Dr (Sir) Tony Onyima. Today, the editor, Saturday, Sun newspapers, Tope Bentop Adeboboye, has confirmed it. And so, I am writing this on Tessy, as a way of saying congratulation to her.
By the way it has been a Nigerian women dominated victories. Think of the Flamingos, Falconets, Bayelsa Queens and now Tessy.
At Sun newspapers, though we were not friends, I clearly observed her passion, dedication and workaholic tendencies.
Though socially inclined, she still rolled out more stories – most of them award winning articles – more than everyone’s else.
She was poised and dutiful. She was elegant and purposeful. She loved the key board than her leisures, yet, I wondered how she was not distracted by her beauty, long legs, exciting face and inviting lips too good for long kisses. Like Jesus Christ, she tactically escaped the brutal snares and professionally focussed on her calling.
I was disturbed when I started reading her in another news stable. However, the move she made, just like the other lady before her, has skyrocketed and elevated her from a national champion to an international award winning journalist!!!
She has uplifted herself to the pinnacle of an Olympic height of glory, reserved for only golden giants.
Kudos, Tessy. I am looking forward to the biggest: Best African Journalist Award. Ndewo.
