Ikoyi gate: Osinbajo panel to submit report 8 May

The three-man Presidential Investigative Committee set up by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, under the chairmanship of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, will no longer submit its report today.

Contrary to earlier report, the committee will complete its investigation today and then submit its report next Monday 8 May to President Buhari.

The panel was set up to inquire into the Discovery of Foreign and Local Currencies by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at Osborne  Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos and the allegation  of Due Process Violations in the Award of Contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE) leveled against Secretary of the Government of the Federation Engineer Babachir David Lawal.

The National Intelligence Agency headed by Ambassador Ayo Oke had claimed ownership of the money found at the Osborne apartment. Before his suspension, Oke claimed the money was a left over of the $289million approved by former President Goodluck Jonathan for special projects.

On Tuesday, the attorney-general and Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami, also a member of the Osinbajo panel, said the committee would submit its report today.

That appears very wrong.

The third member of panel is the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno.
