IMO: The Governor of Imo State His Excellency Hope Uzodinma has officially approved the endorsement of independent Power Generation in the State.
This according to Uzodinma will help to generate supply of electricity which he said is the fulcrum of economical development in the state .
The Governor stated this while signing into law the Imo State Electricity Bill at the government house Owerri on Thursday.
The Governor noted that Imo state need steady power supply to boost her economy. He however recalled the former Amaraku Power station established by Ex- Governor Sam Mbakwe of blessed memory and promised Imolites a well productive work plan to put to work the Egbema power plant to generate and distribute light to the entire communities in the state.
The state has therefore taken over the Egbema power plant to generate light without further delay. Governor Uzodinma took up this wonderful project few months after the Federal Government flagged off Operation Light Up Nigeria held in Enugu State recently.
Now the Governor has given due accent to Imo electricity bill, this development marks a pivotal moment in the state’s efforts to improve access to reliable electricity for its residents across communities in the rural and urban cities as 9News Nigeria reports.
Emphasizing the importance of uninterrupted power supply for economic growth, Governor Uzodinma also announced the approval of Federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to take over the Egbema Power Plant, which has been abandoned since 2006 and an MOU has been signed for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in the State with a reputable Company.
