The permanent site of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Akamili-Nnewi has finally become a reality after many years of moribund, this is following the completion of many complexes and state of the art facility at the site including creation of access roads and active resumption of Medical Services.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof Joseph Ugboaja took it upon himself to decongest the existing hospital by establishing a modern world class tertiary hospital tastefully designed to care for terminally ill patients, maternal and child health, treatment and surveillance of disease outbreak.
Modern facilities such as Accident and Emergency complex, Intensive Care Unit, Paediatric Ward, Male and Female Surgical Wards, General Outpatient Department, Trauma Complex, Gynae Ward, Medical Outpatient department, Ear Nose & Throat Clinic with well standard mortuary have all been completed courtesy of the ever hardworking and pragmatic Chief Medical Director(CMD).
The state of the art modern Laboratories, Endoscopy and Radiology departments have equally been equipped to facilitate reliable diagnosis with high degree of accuracy, precision and reduced turnaround time(TAT).
Under the visionary watch of the capacity CMD, NAUTH has enviably remained at the top echelon as amongst the best tertiary health institutions in Nigeria.
The Prof Joseph Ugboaja magic hands in NAUTH has left staff, patients and general public wondering where he gets funds to finance these huge and life-saving projects.
One fascinating and inspiring thing about Prof Ugboaja is his unrelenting and painstaking capacity to getting things done by bringing in full bear, his wealth of experience and administrative prowess.
The rebranding and digitisation of NAUTH staff is routinely on course in order to meet the global best practices and up-to-date skills and knowledge accruable to 21st century healthcare system. This has tremendously helped the institution in providing adequate and sustainable healthcare to the populace with minimal mortality rate.
Indeed, Prof Ugboaja deserves commendation and endless eulogy because he has changed the abysmal narrative of the hospital from what it used to be to what it is presently.
