Plateau: Mutfwang lauds traditional institutions in fostering commuinity cohesion

Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has described traditional rulers as pillars of community cohesion, peace and harmonious living in the society.

Mutfwang made this remark on Wednesday while playing host to the State Council of Chiefs and Emirs at the new Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.

He expressed the commitment of his administration to collaborating with relevant bodies to explore ways of preserving and enhancing dignity and respect of the traditional rulers in the State.

While acknowledging the critical role being played by the traditional rulers in fostering peace, unity and stability in their respective domains, Governor Mutfwang urged them to dialogue among their people, in order to build trust and confidence amongst them.

He saluted the doggedness of the traditional rulers in tackling security challenges, and restated his respect and high regard for the traditional institution for the role in ensuring stability in the society.

Governor Mutfwang noted that poverty was one of the greatest challenges confronting the people and called for the collective efforts in fighting the menace which is known to be fueling insecurity.

He called on members of revered institution to rise to the occasion and break all the barriers by building bridges of trust, harmony and prosperity in the State.

Mutfwang explained that apart from working in synergy with conventional society agencies, the State is also working out modalities to mobilize non-conventional society outfits and introduce technology to fight insecurity.

Chairman of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs and the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba appreciated Governor Mutfwang for championing laudable projects for the benefit of the people and pledged the determination of the traditional institution to key area into the programmes of the current administration.

The Royal Father, however, appealed to government to intensify efforts in curbing the current security challenges confronting the State, particularly during this farming season and to devise means of mitigating the rising prices of foodstuffs in the market.
