The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa has declared that the Federal Government will not accept anyone to use the ongoing protest for change of government.
General Musa stated this on Monday in a chat with State House correspondents, after the National Security Council meeting presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Defence Chief warn those calling for a coup in the country to desist from such, saying that the Military had accepted democracy and would not accept any regime change.
“Nigeria is a democratic nation all security agencies are here to defend democracy and ensure that democracy continues to strive, we will not accept anyone pushing or taking any action, seemingly or for whatever reason to want to push for any change of government”.
He also rejected the flying of any foreign flag in Nigeria, saying both act is treasonable.
He said “Initially when the protest started it was a peaceful protest, but we have realized that there are individuals that are willing to take advantage of it to cause mayhem.
“And we can see it clearly what has happened since it commenced, criminals have taken over, a lot of looting taking place, stealing and all sorts happening”
The President and Security Chiefs also deliberated on strategies to enhance the security architecture, ensuring the safety and stability of the nation.
