Real Madrid and Brazilian superstar Vinicius Junior has earned himself a contract offer of $1 billion (£778,830,000/€907,664,000), which would make him the highest-paid footballer in history.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund is behind the deal and offered Vinicius Jr a five-year contract worth nearly £300 million ($385,193,174/€349,625,977) a year.
Vinicius Jr won the La Liga and the Champions League last year with Real Madrid.
According to the offer, the Brazilian forward would earn; £24,906,189 ($31,978,980/€29,026,168) a month, £5,747,582 ($7,379,764/€6,698,346) a week, £821,083 ($1,054,251/€956,906) a day and £34,211 ($43,926/€39,870) an hour.
The Saudi fund owns 75% of Al Ahli, Al Ittihad, Al Hilal, and Al Nassr, with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr, Karim Benzema at Al Ittihad, and Neymar at Al Hilal, the fund will try to convince Vinicius Jr to join Al Ahli.
However, Los Blancos would try to keep the Brazilian superstar within their ranks as the club’s president, Florentino Perez putting an £830 million ($1,065,701,115/€967,298,537) release clause on his head.
“I can guarantee that there’s NOTHING into it. It’s pure speculation.” Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti said.
Although Jr hasn’t dismissed the move, a formal offer has not been submitted.
The Mbappe threat
Frenchman Kylian Mbappe joined Real Madrid this summer and is a more versatile player who can play off the left.
Mbappe has begun his journey with Real Madrid with a 2-0 victory over Atalanta, scoring a goal and clinching the UEFA Super Cup.
Amongst the concerns within the club is management of egos that Ancelotti will have to deal in a club filled with impeccable talents.
“There are no princes or kings here,” said Ancelotti.
Meanwhile, Vinicius stated, “I’m always happy to be a Real Madrid player, very happy. I hope the president lets me play here for a very long time because I love this club.”
Vinicius has played 264 games, scoring 83 goals, and providing 75 assists for Real Madrid.
The critical question for players in this position is whether money or legacy would matter.
