It’s a concerning incident as three policemen accused of the death of Abdulqoyyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, have been dismissed from the force.
The officers were initially apprehended and held in Ilorin but were later moved to Abuja following a direct order from the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for a more comprehensive investigation into the incident.
Ishola tragically lost his life on September 4, 2024, in the GRA area of Ilorin, allegedly at the hands of these policemen. His demise triggered widespread outrage across the Polytechnic, with both the school’s administration and its Students Union Government calling for justice.
Kwara’s police commissioner, Victor Olaiya, has pledged to exhaust all avenues to ensure justice for the late student’s family. When reached for comment, the state’s police spokesperson, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, stated, “I am yet to receive official confirmation regarding the dismissal of the officers.”
