South Korean Company, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has announced a groundbreaking development with the introduction of the world’s first ultra-small flexible solid-state battery.
The new battery is designed for use in wearable and smartphone devices, following three years of intensive research.
According to them, this innovative battery boasts an impressive energy density of 200Wh/L, significantly higher than conventional lithium-ion batteries, offering enhanced safety and durability, which reduce the risk of overheating and fire.
Samsung is currently testing the battery with select partners, with mass production expected to begin in 2026.
Early applications of the technology are anticipated in products like the Galaxy Watch and the Galaxy Fold, where the flexible form factor and high energy density are expected to unlock new possibilities for design and performance.
