Former Governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam last Friday spent not less than 5-hours at the Federal High Court, Maitama, for the continuation of his N3.1 Billion corruption case.
Justice Peter Lifu had adjourned the case to October 4th, 2024, after the six witness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, testified against Senator Suswam.
According to reports, Suswam arrived in court before 9am,his lawyers, EFCC lawyers and witnesses of the EFCC were also in court.
Suswam spent not less than 5-hours waiting for the judge.
At about 2pm, it was clear to Suswam that the judge was not going to come for the continuation of the trial.
The lawyers in the N3.1 billion case were advised by the Registrar of the Court to take a new date.
A frustrated looking Suswam who has not been comfortable since the resumed hearing of his corruption case decided to leave the court, looking very quiet with uncertainty written over him.
The case was adjourned to October 30th, 2024, for continuation of hearing.
Suswam, alongside his then Commissioner of Finance, Omodachi Okolobia are facing 11-count amended charges of money laundering to the tune of N3.1 billion, being part of the proceeds from the sales of the state government’s shares held on its behalf by the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited, sold through Elixir Securities Limited and Elixir Investment Partners Limited.
According to a source close to Suswam, in other to save himself from the case, Senator Suswam has decided to visit some APC Governors and traditional rulers who can save him from the case as the testimony of the EFCC witnesses is very damaging.
