Borno State’s 2025 budget is set to prioritize cultural renaissance and security projects.

These are part of the Ministry of Information and Internal Security initiatives proposed in the budget.

The ministry’s budget proposal was earlier defended before the State House of Assembly’s committee on Information and Internal Security.

In his presentation during the defense session, the commissioner of the ministry, Prof. Usman Tar, highlighted their achievements over the past year.

Some of the projects they executed he recalled include were the rehabilitation of the government printing press, procurement of vehicles for security operations and support for community resettlement.

Other important program he said is the recruitment of more Civilian Joint Task Force personnel.

Tar also emphasized on the ministry’s role at two important programs, the Kanem Borno Summit and Sir Ahmadu Bello lecture.

However, parts of the budget for 2025 includes the construction of fire service stations across all 27 local government areas, a central command and control center, and new military barracks.

Other notable projects in the proposal are the establishment of a Borno State Cultural Centre, museum construction, historical site development, and the reconstruction of Borno Radio and Television (BRTV) Maiduguri among other things.

According to the ministry, these initiatives aim to promote the state’s cultural heritage and align with the state governor, Babagana Umara Zulum’s vision of rebuilding Borno.

While pledging their support for the ministry, the committee commended its efforts in cultural promotion, noting particularly its successes at the National Festival of Arts and Culture.

The session, held at the Borno State House of Assembly (BOSHA) complex in Maiduguri, was presided over by the Committee Chairman, Bukar Modu.

Other committee members present included Engr. Gambomi Marte and Yakubu Kimba.
