In a grand event currently taking place at the Oliveth Baptist High School in Oyo town, Abimbola Owoade has been crowned the 46th Alaafin of Oyo.
Owoade ascended the throne as the Alaafin of Oyo following the demise of his predecessor, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who died on April 22, 2022, at 83.
The Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde has announced Owoade as the new Alaafin and proceeded to further hand over to him the staff of office.
The action by the governor had caused an outrage within the Oyo Kingdom with many instituting legal action against the governor and the new Alaafin.
