Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister Nyesom Wike, has thrown his weight behind Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, who has faced wide criticism over the comment he made against former presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
While commissioning commercial buses in Edo State on Tuesday July 22, Wike said the Governor was right for asking Obi to always notify him before coming to Edo State.
According Wike, Obi is a political figure that can be harmed If not protected and that if a tragic incident happens, It is the Governor of the visiting state that will be accused of masterminding the attack.
In his words: “I have watched on TV unnecessary debate that is why I say Nigerians forget easily. When I was a Governor, when Peter Obi was coming to my state, he notified me he was coming. I provided logistics and a vehicle for him to use because at that level, as a presidential candidate, If he does not tell you and anything happens, the Governor will be held responsible.
“People should stop politicking when the truth is being told. Obi knows fully well with his so-called coalition, anything can happen. They will accuse the Governor of being behind it. So the statement you made, you are quite right”.
