Imo people have called on the shared prosperity administration led by Governor Hope Uzodinma to swap some officers of government to assume immediate assignments targeted at stabilizing certain loopholes in the administration. The reshufflement will improve government service and guard the excess of govt. functionaries.
This call was made at an early morning phone-in program on radio Sunday where huge number of Nde Imo frowned at inconsistencies and high-handedness witnessed in some government establishments in Imo state. “The process of swapping of commissioners and government functionaries at interval will help to promote functionality, discipline, sanity and stability”
On ministry of mines cum environment, callers into the program suggested that commissioner Ernest Ibejiako should be swapped to another ministry to help government look inwards the activities of dredging and mining companies across the rural localities in the state.
Recall that dredging activities across rural communities in Imo state have caused more damages than benefits to the state. Such unapproved and inappropriate activities going on in Imo may not have been brought to the notice of His Excellency Gov Hope Uzodinma for assessment.
Imo House of Assembly at some points have passed legislative motions and bills to check incessant dredging or mining activities in Imo state but regrettably, the ministry saddled with this responsibility has either aided the abnormal mining process or checked its excesses.
Several officers of government have posed as task force agents to the governor on dredging and surprisingly gone behind to run some sharp and shady deals with miners across non minable sites to continue work and remit some percentage of money to them as alleged.
At some points, local government Chairmen in these areas where mining is going on , have also aligned to shady deals to the detriment of their Constituents. LG Chairmen hardly react to stop illegalities in their areas but rather co-join in the sharing to suffer the masses, information reveals.
Meanwhile, some commissioners are not living up to expectation because one can easily observe their lapses and eye service when the governor summons for executive meetings, 9News Nigeria reports.
In the circle of government, perhaps government quarters , the eyes of Governor Hope Uzodinma cannot be everywhere at same time but through the activeness of his lieutenants who represents him at various ministries, departments and agencies.
In the Agriculture and livestock ministry cum department, no single effect has come from the commissioner likewise ministries like, gender , information, conflict resolution, education, mines, industry, environment, etc. It is only in lands , survey and physical planing that has stabilize the abnormal process of land acquisition in the state but still have some loopholes and lapses recorded.
Imolites therefore challenged Imo commissioners to present their score cards alongside every other officer of government both at the local government, House of Assembly, House of Representative, Senate, Government House and its affiliate offices for assessment, checks and recommendations.

Ndi Imo have suggested for immediate swap of officers and commissioners to take new assignments and work schedule, and by so doing corruption will be reduced drastically in Imo state and Nigeria at large. This is because long stay in a particular office or position of government can lead one to shady and corrupt practices, Imolites frowned.
