President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said Nigerians employed by the local, state and federal governments are also part of the “common men and women” whose welfare is affected by government policies.
Tinubu made the comments while responding to concerns about the impact of government policies on ordinary Nigerians.
“I listen to people say common man and all that. Who are the people receiving salaries at the local government administration? Are they not common men and women? Those receiving salaries at the state level, are they not common men and women?” the President said.
He added that ordinary Nigerians receiving regular salaries from government also contribute to economic activity in their communities.
“The ordinary people receiving salaries at the federal government level regularly, and it affected all the market women around us, including your wives,” Tinubu said.
The President’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about the impact of his administration’s economic policies on Nigerians and the broader cost-of-living situation.
