Minister of Works David Umahi says President Bola Tinubu means well for the South-East and is determined to integrate the region into the Federal Government’s development plans.
Umahi made the statement while highlighting ongoing federal infrastructure projects across the region.
He urged South-East residents to put political differences aside and assess the administration based on its projects.
The minister said he had faced criticism and insults for defending Tinubu’s government.
However, he maintained that he believed his role was divinely ordained.
“God sent me at a time like this, to tell the truth. The President has good intention to integrate the people of South-East,” Umahi said.
He also claimed that many of the ongoing projects in the region would not have been attracted without his presence as Works Minister.
According to Umahi, Tinubu had given him a mandate to “go and right the wrongs of the South-East.”
His comments have sparked reactions, with Nigerians divided over whether the Tinubu administration has done enough for the region.
