Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has alleged that he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt after armed men attacked members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during a political engagement in Usiefrun, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, August 13, 2026, during a ward-to-ward consultation involving Omo-Agege, the the NDC governorship candidate, Deacon Chris Iyovwaye, and other party leaders.
The alleged that the attackers opened fire on party supporters who had gathered to welcome the delegation, leaving six NDC members injured.
Among those he identified as injured were: Joshua Oghenetega Oyibocha, Believe Biadoyo, Owhos Peter and Ojiyovwin Dennis, alongside two party members.

Omo-Agege alleged that eye-witness accounts and video footage had identified four persons as being behind the attack.
He named them as Simon Mudi, also known as “Temple”, a protocol officer to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Flash Oghenetega Origbo, Ochuko Origbon, and Alex Awherhurho.
Omo-Agege has called on the Inspector-General of Police and Delta State Commissioner of Police to investigate the incident and prosecute anyone found responsible.
He urged his supporters not to retaliate, insisting that NDC would continue its grassroots mobilisation across Delta Central despite the attack.
