US President Donald Trump has announced that CNN, MS NOW and Politico are being barred from the White House.
He accused the media organisations of repeatedly publishing what he described as “fake news.”
In a statement released on Friday, Trump said the decision was effective immediately and accused the outlets of reporting what he characterised as “fiction and lies” about his administration, the presidency and the United States.
Trump also criticised Politico over an $8 million government subscription, alleging that the payment was made under former President Joe Biden to help sustain the publication.
He described the arrangement as “corruption.”
The president also mocked MS NOW, saying the network had recently changed its name from MSNBC because of declining viewership and credibility.
“Media outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America,” Trump said.
He added that “other Fake News Media Outlets” would follow.
