Jos — The Plateau State Police Command on Monday confirmed that seven people were injured in a shooting incident along the Bukuru Expressway in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.
The traders were said to have been returning from the market when gunmen opened fire on them at the Bukuru community in the Jos South Local Government Area on Sunday.
In a statement on Monday, the Command condemned the attack, which it said targeted traders returning from Kara Market in Bukuru.
The spokesman for the Command SP Alfred Alabo, disclosed this in a statement issued in Jos.

The statement signed by Alabo, partly read, “The Plateau State Police Command has received with deep concern the report of a shooting incident that occurred on 4th October, 2026 at about 04:30p.m along Bukuru Expressway, Jos South LGA.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle targeted was conveying traders returning from Kara Market, Bukuru, Jos. Seven injured victims have so far been traced to the Military Clinic, Rukuba Barracks, Jos, where they are receiving medical attention”
While no fatalities have officially been reported, the the sudden violence has reignited deep concerns along major commercial routes in the state.
Sunday’s ambush underscores a troubling pattern of violence targeting traders and pastoralists commuting from the Kara Bukuru livestock market. Local pastoralists associations have strongly condemned the recurring attacks, pointing to a series of violent encounters along the corridor.
