The International President of De Norsemen Kclub International (DNKI), Ambassador Dr. Aniekanabasi Paulinus Alban, has called for renewed national commitment to responsible leadership, accountability, environmental protection and humanitarian service, urging the Rivers State Government to urgently address persistent flooding in Port Harcourt and other affected communities.
Dr. Alban made the call in his message to Nigerians and Noble Norsemen worldwide as the organisation prepares for its 10:15 celebration, emphasising the need for collective responsibility, national unity and practical contributions to society.
The DNKI president, who spoke to journalists at Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, during a visit to the organisation’s state chapter around Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, expressed concern over the hardship caused by flooding, particularly in Port Harcourt, where affected residents and businesses face disruptions to their livelihoods.
He described flooding as both an environmental and humanitarian challenge requiring urgent government intervention, warning that its consequences extend beyond damaged property to include displacement, sanitation problems, public health risks and economic losses.
Dr. Alban called on the Rivers State Government to assess the worst-affected communities, provide relief and temporary shelter for displaced residents, and support households and businesses that have suffered losses.
He also advocated improved drainage systems, effective waste management, rehabilitation of stormwater infrastructure and better urban planning to address the underlying causes of recurrent flooding.
According to him, sustainable solutions require coordinated efforts involving state and local governments, emergency management agencies, environmental experts and community stakeholders.
He stressed that residents should not be left to bear the recurring consequences of flooding without adequate institutional support, adding that protecting lives, livelihoods and the environment must remain a priority for responsible governance.
Beyond the flooding crisis, the DNKI president called on Noble Norsemen worldwide to remain committed to the ideals of brotherhood, integrity, discipline, peace and selfless service.
He urged members of the organisation to serve as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria and DNKI in their respective communities, jurisdictions and countries, noting that the strength of the brotherhood should be measured by its positive contributions to society rather than its size or geographical reach.
Dr. Alban emphasised that the organisation’s guiding principle, “DOOTY IZT DOOTY — SERVICE TO HUMANITY,” must be reflected in practical actions that support vulnerable people, promote justice, strengthen peaceful coexistence and contribute to community development.
He maintained that patriotism must go beyond speeches, slogans and anniversary celebrations, insisting that citizens and institutions must work collectively to confront the challenges confronting the country.
The DNKI leader also called for national unity, accountability and responsible leadership, noting that Nigeria’s progress depends on the willingness of its citizens and institutions to embrace their shared responsibilities.
With preparations for the 2027 general elections expected to intensify political activities across the country, he urged Nigerians and members of the brotherhood to reject division, uphold peaceful coexistence and place the welfare of humanity above narrow interests.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, Dr. Alban said the occasion should serve as an opportunity to renew the country’s commitment to justice, economic opportunities, environmental protection and effective leadership.
He further urged Nigerians to remember citizens facing insecurity, displacement, economic hardship and other difficulties, stressing that their circumstances should inspire greater compassion, practical assistance and purposeful action.
The international president reaffirmed DNKI’s commitment to brotherhood, integrity, discipline and service to humanity, urging members across the world to sustain the organisation’s traditions while ensuring that their activities make a lasting and positive difference in society.
He said the principles of the brotherhood should translate into meaningful humanitarian interventions, responsible conduct and community development, regardless of where members reside.
As the organisation looks towards its 10:15 celebration, Dr. Alban’s message places renewed emphasis on the responsibilities of membership, the importance of unity and the need to demonstrate the values of the brotherhood through tangible service.
He urged Noble Norsemen to strengthen their bonds, remain disciplined and contribute meaningfully to the welfare of their communities and humanity at large.
The DNKI president concluded with a call for a more united, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria, reaffirming the organisation’s guiding message: “DOOTY IZT DOOTY — SERVICE TO HUMANITY,” “KEEP HOPE ALIVE” and “MAKE DNKI GREAT.”
The forthcoming 10:15 celebration is a significant occasion for De Norsemen Kclub International (DNKI), providing an opportunity for members to reaffirm their commitment to the organisation’s ideals of brotherhood, integrity, discipline, peace and service to humanity. The celebration also offers a platform to reflect on the responsibilities of members to their communities and the wider society, while strengthening unity among Noble Norsemen across Nigeria and the diaspora.
