Hon. Laven Denty Jacob, the lawmaker representing Plateau South in Plateau State House of Assembly, has regained his freedom days after being abducted from his residence in Jos.
Confirming the development on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon Kwarpo Sylvanus, said Jacob has safety rejoined his family.
“He has been successfully released, but we are yet to ascertain whether any ransom was given or paid, All we know is that he was released last night”, Sylvanus stated.
He said that the lawmaker was in good health upon his return, while commending swift response of the security agencies and concerned citizens.
Sylvanus also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their communities, adding that legislators would continue to push for stronger laws to strengthen security in the state.
He suggested the establishment of vigilante groups to complement formal security efforts.
The kidnapping comes just days after two other abductions in the same area – a corps member and a University of Jos student were taken only ten days earlier, raising fresh concerns about security in Plateau communities.
Recall that Jacob was abducted late Monday night September 22, at his residence in Angwan Kagji, Dong community, Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State.
