Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma swore in Chief Longers Anyanwu as the state’s Commissioner for Agriculture, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and enhancing food security.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday during the State Executive Council meeting, where the governor charged the newly appointed commissioner to bring fresh ideas, innovation, and renewed energy to the ministry in support of the administration’s development agenda.
Governor Uzodimma expressed confidence in Anyanwu’s ability to contribute meaningfully to the state’s agricultural transformation, noting that agriculture remains a key pillar of his government’s vision for economic growth, job creation, food security, and sustainable prosperity.
He said the appointment forms part of ongoing efforts to reposition the sector to improve the livelihoods of Imo residents while boosting agricultural productivity across the state.
The governor also expressed optimism that, with the support of the new commissioner and other members of the State Executive Council, the administration would achieve greater milestones in advancing the state’s agricultural development objectives.
