May 18, 2023: It was exactly 11:55 am when I arrived the Aso Villa to receive the NYSC legacy award alongside 51 others who were selected amongst thousands of corps members that served our fatherland during my set.

This comes on the heels of the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Scheme that started at the beginning of this month with long-week activities.

Just before arriving the venue of the event (Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa), we were thoroughly screened by three different security checkpoints before we finally checked in.

The event started a bit slow but all thanks to the members of the NYSC Band Team for their melodious songs to entertain the guests.

The President, Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) accompanied by some members of his cabinet arrived the event some minutes past 3 and was welcomed by the Presidential Guard Brigade.

Fast forward, yours truly was conferred with the President’s NYSC Honours Award for laudable projects done during my service year in Ondo (the Sunshine State). Kudos to my brother, Engr Kenny John for also gracing the occasion to celebrate with me.

During service, I rehabilitated a 73-year-old abandoned school toilet in Oyemekun area of Akure, Ondo State capital. I also organised free Computer-based training for students in my Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), among other interventions in the State.

I want to thank the management and staff of NYSC for giving me the platform to contribute to the development of my dear country and by extension, my parents, friends, teachers, mentors, and well-wishers for their endless support and benevolence. You’re all my heroes!

I dedicate this award to my parents, Pst & Evang Arogbonlo Isaac who out of nothing nurtured me to become national ambassador that I am today. Thank you mummy and daddy for the sacrifice and love all through these years of history.
