Barely one month after the presidential elections, Mr Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party who has gone to court to challenge the results released by INEC which declared President Muhammadu Buhari as winner in the polls, has claimed that he actually won in four states which the electoral commission had announced were won by Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr Abubakar stated this in his “state to state computation” contained in his electoral petition filed earlier this week.
The states Mr Abubakar is laying claims to are Kogi, Kaduna, Gombe and Niger.
Recall that on February 27, INEC had declared that Mr Buhari won the election in 19 states with a total of 15,191,847 votes to defeat Mr Abubakar, who won in 18 states including the FCT by 11,262,978 votes.
9News Nigeria had reported during the week that Mr Abubakar had consequently filed a petition in the Supreme court to challenge the result by INEC.
In his petition, Mr Abubakar claimed that from the INEC server “state to state computation”, he, Atiku Abubakar polled 18,356,732 votes to defeat Mr Muhammadu Buhari whom he said scored 16,741,430 votes, resulting in 1,615,302 difference in margin.
His petition also claims he won 21 states, excluding the results from Rivers State, which he said was not available on INEC’s server as at February 25, when the computation was made.
He claims that Mr Buhari only won the election in 15 states.
In his petition, Mr Atiku is requesting that the Supreme court either declares him winner of the February 23rd presidential elections or annul the election.
