In major move to modernize land administration, the Benue State Government has launched an outline application system to automate the issuance and transfer of land titles, significantly reducing bureaucracy and hardships previously faced by landowner and applicants.
Unveiled on Wednesday January 14, 2026 in Makurdi, the new digital platform was developed by the Benue Geographic Information Service (BENGIS) in partnership with the Ministry of Lands and Survey and the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC).
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Terna Kawen, Director of Capacity Building and Stakeholder Engagement at BENGIS, said Governor Hyacinth Alia has directed full compliance with online appreciation process for all land title matters.
Kawen highlighted that the digital system is designed to enhance transparency, efficiency, and ease of doing business by allowing users to submit requests, track their progress, and complete necessary procedures online.
He urged the public to enhance the innovation, noting that initiative represents a significant step toward modern governance and improved public service delivery in the state.
