Borno Government Bans Street Hawking, Other Activities

Borno State government has ban street hawking and other activities in the state capital Maiduguri.

This order was announced on Friday by the General Manager, Borno State Urban Planning and Development Board, Limán Mustapha in Maiduguri.

The ban also affects tricycle operators and generator mechanics in specific areas, such as Post Office and Monday Market areas.

The new regulations also prohibit activities on pedestrian walkways, junctions, and roundabouts, as well as the sale of engine oil on road reservations.

Additionally, dumping sand or building materials, mixing cement on roads, and constructing boreholes by roadsides are now off-limits.

Those affected by the ban have been instructed to vacate the occupied sites, with the board warning that, defaulters will be arrested and prosecuted.

By taking this stance, the Borno State government aims to create a more hygienic and better urban environment.

Residents and business owners are urged to comply with the ban to avoid consequences.
