As President Tinubu directs for the payment of State House electricity bill, users of EEDC service in the South East region are furiously calling for the withdrawal of EEDC from further services.

The EDDC consumers in the South East Nigeria have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to withdraw the services of the company from exploiting consumers of electricity in the zone .

The immediate withdrawal of EEDC Company from further providing of services is highly needed as this call is based on the worrisome condition EEDC has placed it’s users across the SE.

The people of the zone have alleged that EEDC rub people of their hard earned money through imposition of outrageous bills on them, no regular supply of Electricity and lack of taking meter reading.

Since President Bola Tinubu has directed immediate settlement of outstanding electricity bill due to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC has to be recalled for gross inefficiency of service to the people in the area of coverage.

The President’s directive follows the reconciliation of accounts between the State House Management and AEDC.

Contrary to the AEDC’s initial claim of N923million debt in paid advertorial in newspapers, the State House outstanding bill is N342, 352, 217.46, according to a letter by the management of AEDC to the State House Permanent Secretary dated February 14, 2024.

Having reconciled the position to the satisfaction of both parties, the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has given assurance that the debt will be paid to AEDC before the end of this week.

Following the example of the Presidency, Chief of Staff also urged other MDAs to reconcile their accounts with AEDC and pay their electricity bills.

Meanwhile, South East electricity Consumers has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to as a matter of urgency withdraw the services of EEDC for gross inefficiency and outrageous billing in the zone.

The services of EEDC is far below what the former NEPA use to supply to subscribers and till date , EEDC has not improved in their Supply of power to the people.

Light comes once weekly and most times the so called EEDC would say openly to customers that the are sharing the services. We are tired of such skeletal service by EEDC in South East while calling on FG to replace the company with a better substitute, EEDC consumers lamented.
