The Imo House of Assembly IMHA has on Tuesday Morning 2-07-24 suspended four lawmakers for gross misconduct and perceived gang-up against the leadership.
Our correspondent in Owerri reports that the House convened Tuesday morning in warm expectation of normal business of the day but gave surprised suspension letters to Four Legislators IMHA.
Though none of the affected lawmakers was able to speak to the press on this action taken against them by the leadership of the House, Speaker Chike Olemgbe had after several readings, hit the gavel of IMHA against those affected.
Recall that there has been perceived gang-up looming in the Imo State House of Assembly IMHA and all hands were pointed at the suspended lawmakers as gathered by 9News Nigeria.
Though the lawmakers obeyed the suspension order given to them, none of them was able to talk to the Press because of their bad mood and negative psyche.
It was observed that the indefinite suspension came as a rude shock to the lawmakers and also affected the mode of official duties of the staff at the time of filling this report by 9News.
While the vote was put across Honourable members, the speaker Rt Hon Olemgbe announced their suspension to stay off the IMHA and it’s activities till further notice. The official letter given to the affected members bears “indefinite suspension” while the house rose to reconvene Wednesday 3-07-2024 morning.
9News Nigeria reports that the suspended members are: Honourables Sam Otibe, Ogbunikpa , Henry Agbasonu and Dominic Ezerioha.
These lawmakers represents various Local Government Areas which included; Ahiazu Mbaise ,Okigwe, Ezinihite and Oru West LGA respectively, pending further actions by the Imo state House of Assembly IMHA.
