A passenger plane carrying 11 people on board has reportedly crashed in a forest in central Cameroon on Wednesday, 9News Nigeria learnt.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, a major storm had hit Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé, causing the plane to lose signal after taking off from the city’s Nsimalen airport.
Ernest Ngalle Bibehe, Cameroon’s Transport Minister, confirmed in a statement that air traffic control lost contact with the plane.
“Air traffic controllers lost radio contact with the aircraft,” according to the statement, which was later “located in the forest” near Nanga Eboko, about 150 kilometres (90 miles) northeast of the capital Yaounde.
