Facing growing security threats, Nigeria is witnessing a surge in homegrown defense innovation, championed by Dr. Bright Echefu of EIB Group.
Under his leadership, the company is spearheading a shift toward indigenous defense manufacturing.
EIB Group has emerged as a pioneering force in Nigeria’s nascent defense technology industry, developing cutting-edge solutions such as unmanned aerial vehicles, satellite systems, and advanced combat drone technologies.
These products, once exclusively sourced from foreign markets, are now being designed and manufactured on Nigerian soil, a feat Dr. Echefu describes as a “patriotic mission.”

“Local manufacturing is more than a business opportunity; it is a national duty,” he emphasized.
He added that the group’s focus aligns with broader efforts to achieve industrial self-reliance.
According to him, Nigeria’s past success in reducing dependency on imported machinery like tractors offers a blueprint for replicating similar achievements in security infrastructure.
At the heart of this initiative is EIB Stratoc, the group’s defense subsidiary, which is fully Nigerian-owned and employs over 1,000 skilled professionals.
The company works directly with the Nigerian military on research, product development, and the supply of mission-critical hardware.
Dr. Echefu believes that robust collaboration between the private sector and the armed forces is key to building a resilient national defense system.
However, he cautions that the growing demand for locally made defense tools has begun to outstrip supply.
He is calling on the federal government to intensify support for indigenous manufacturers through policy reforms, financial backing, and official patronage.
“The opportunity to transform Nigeria’s security architecture is real, but it requires bold investment and belief in local capacity.
“Our vision is clear: a Nigeria where surveillance drones, combat support tools, and critical systems are built by Nigerian hands, using Nigerian resources.” He said.
Beyond national security, the impact of EIB Group’s innovations is reverberating across Nigeria’s industrial landscape.
The company’s operations have created jobs, fostered technical training, and facilitated technology transfer, offering new career paths for young engineers and technicians.
Dr. Echefu’s message is unequivocal: “We must believe in our ability to defend and develop our nation. Local innovation is not a backup plan, it is the future.”
As Nigeria searches for lasting solutions to its security and economic challenges, the EIB Group’s efforts stand as a compelling model of what is possible when vision, innovation, and national interest converge.
