The Ekiti state governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose has urged Nigerians at all levels to ensure that their actions and ways are geared towards strengthening the nation’s democratic rule, stressing that the nation would experience peace, stability and progress only when this is done.

The governor made the remarks on Tuesday while congratulating the people of Nigeria and particularly Ekiti people for witnessing and celebrating another Democracy Day.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the governor said that God has helped him to strengthen democracy in the state through his administration’s strict obedience to the rule of law, adding that his administration has promoted peace, freedom of association and speech without muscling individuals, saying, ” this is what democracy is all about, no muscling of individual, as opposed to militocracy”.

Fayose said he has operated an open-door administration, adding that, “I have not hidden finances of the state from Ekiti people.

“The projects executed by my administration in my first and second terms are on ground for you to see, and if subtracted from works of other administrations, the ground will be almost empty.

“In all these, I have not committed the state into debt of even a dime. It is the debt left by Fayemi I have been paying.

“This is why I am preaching continuity so that this good work can continue. We need accelerated development in Ekiti, both physical and non physical. This can be achieved by voting for Professor Olusola Eleka in July 14.

“God bless you all.”
