Former Deputy Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Jerry Obasi has dismissed claims that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, adopted anyone as the SOLE Candidate of the Southern Zone Caucus for State PDP Chairman.
A statement made available to 9News Nigeria by Hon. Obasi for Concerned Members, PDP Ebonyi South Zonal Caucus said ‘if anyone claims that such a decision was ever reached, let such a person mention the names of those in attendance at zonal meeting. Ebonyi South is beyond an individual or a collection of such an individual and his disciples.’
He noted that Mr. Tochukwu whom the sole power want to foist on the State is a known member of ANN in Okposi Community where he hails from.
According to the statement, “additionally, more concerning is the name being distributed as an adopted candidate. The Mr. Tochukwu whom the sole power want to foist on the State is a known member of ANN in Okposi Community where he hail from. He was a Campaign DG for ANN House of Representatives Candidate in the 2019 General Election – at what point did he join the Peoples Democratic Party?.”
“At the last General Meeting of the Zonal Caucus held at the Edda Country home of our Distinguished Senator Micheal Nnachi, 7 candidates were allowed to be in the race and all 7 have been cleared by the State Congress Screening Committee before the surreptitious announcement of adoption was made by an individual.”
“Our State leaders are by this disclaimer, urged to ignore such a report of an endorsement as such never happened.”
