General manager and CEO of Rangers International FC of Enugu, Prince Davidson Owumi, has been honored with an award of excellence by a continental student body, African Youth Peace Award in Enugu.
The ‘Icon of Peace & Societal Transformation’ award bestowed on the vastly experienced football manager according to the leader of the five-man delegation that came to present the award, Paul Mathew, was arrived at after due diligence showed that Owumi deserved the recognition.
“We are a youth body saddled with the task of monitoring activities of youths across the continent and youth-friendly administrators with the aim of identifying those that are doing well in their various positions and select them for commendations while those that goes contrary are also exposed,” Matthew said.
“Having monitored your activities over a period of time in sports and youth development and found you desirous of commendation with the way you have run Rangers management corporation in managing the affairs of youths entrusted to your care, not minding race, religion or color, the AYPA came to a conclusion to give you this award of excellence. We urge you to keep doing the good works that you have come to be known for.”
In his acceptance speech, Owumi said, “I am indeed very happy with your recognition and promise to keep doing whatever you saw that gave rise for the recognition. This is simply a call for more work from me and I promise to always do my best to the glory of God and good of mankind.”
Speaking on behalf of management of the club, Rangers Administrative Secretary, Barrister Ferdinand Ugwuerua,, commended the group for their noble activities while promising to partner with the continental youth body in their activities.
