Political structures and personality politicians across all political parties in Owerri zone had an Honourable parley with the Shared prosperity Governor, His Excellency Dr Hope Uzodinma at the Sam Mbakwe Executive Chambers Imo government house Owerri, Monday 10th March 2025.

9News Nigeria reports that the event was a top notch that featured creme de la creme of politicians and stakeholders from Owerri political bloc. At the meeting Governor Hope Uzodinma reassured Imolites on his readiness to hand over power to Owerri zone to synchronize the already endorsed Charter of Equity agreement in the State.

Uzodinma spoke on Monday, March 10, 2025 at the Sam Mbakwe Executive Council Chambers, Government House Owerri, when he received Stakeholders of Owerri Zone extraction.

Addressing the audience, His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma thanked the stakeholders from Owerri Zone for their continued support to his administration. He reiterated his support and desire to usher in the Charter of Equity in 2027.

The leader of the delegation for Owerri political bloc, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho in his opening address praised the Governor for the wonderful infrastructural developments in the State under his tenure and urged him to continue in his good works.

Captain Iheanacho further informed the Governor that owerri Zone is clamouring for the realization of the Charter of Equity as ordained by the Imo State Council of Elders and upheld by him before the 2023 Governorship election. Recall that Rtd Captain Emmanuel Iheanacho was a Guber contestant under APGA political party but could not make it then.

Speaking, Dr, Mrs Kema Chikwe described him as the best Governor in Nigeria based on his sterling performance to the surprise of the citizens. The amazon of Owerri zone described Governor as God’s gift to Imo and thanked him for providing the Charter to stabilize his tenure and thereafter. She prayed for God’s guidance and direction as he steers the ship of the State.

The Governor in his address described Owerri Zone as his age long partners in progress since 1999 when as a very young man, together with leaders of Owerri zone made it possible for an Orlu son to be made a Governor in the person of Chief Achike Udenwa, 1999-2027.

He believed that God did not make a mistake in making him the Governor at this particular time, as he is committed to reciprocate the kind gesture of Owerri zone to Orlu in1999.

Governor Uzodinma also cautioned Owerri zone not to take the CHARTER OF EQUITY for granted but rather be united with a collective force of purpose devoid of greed, hatred and blackmail to help him achieve this legacy of fairness and brotherhood in the State.

Speaking in vote of thanks, General C.R.V Ihekire rtd, praise Governor Hope Uzodinma for his struggles and bravery in combating insecurity that greeted his administration in 2020, as well as his commitment to the Charter of Equity mandate.

The retired Army General, Ihekire described Governor Uzodinma as the author of Charter of Equity and promised him that Imolites will surely celebrate his sense of justice and brotherhood in the years ahead for actualizing the dream.

Many prominent sons and daughters of Owerri Zone were in attendance namely, Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho who is the leader of the delegation, Her Excellency, Dr. Mrs Chinyere Ekomaru, the Deputy Governor, Dr Mrs Kema Chikwe, Gen. Ihekire, Hon. Akarachi Amadi, Hon. Tochi Okere, Chief Charles Amadi, Chief Mercelinus Nlemigbo, Dr, Mrs Julie Onyeukwu, Chief, Henry Njoku, Dr, Ada Okwuonu, Rev. Gerald Njoku, Soronadi, Njoku,SAN, Prince Lemmie Akakem, Barr. George Eke, Chief Okenze Obinna, TPL Steve Onu, Chief CY Anyanwu, Commodore Ogechi Osuagwu, Arch. Amaugo Ugorji, Chief Christogonus Ugochukwu Okoro, Barr. Willie Amadi, Prof. Onyekuru.

Other notable personalities spotted by 9News Nigeria are Prof. Edna Mathew- Njoku, Dr. Mcdonald Ebere, Sir Chimdi Ejiogu, Dr Sha Okorie, Chief Dennis Okwu, Chief Austin Onwubiko, Prince.Okechukwu Okoro, all elected House of Assembly members, the Clergy and appointees of the government from Owerri Zone.

Governor Uzodinma stated categorically to Owerri zone that he believe in Charter of Equity and advised every contestant to stop overheating the polity. He warned seriously while reiterating that Charter of Equity is meant for zone and not meant for individual or group of persons.

Governor Uzodinma, further urged the stakeholders, political leaders and other people of Owerri zone to stop overheating the polity as he still has three years to work as Governor, informing them that he believes in the Charter of Equity.

By way of advice, the Governor told them “to go home, reconcile and unite” themselves, emphasising that they should not overheat the polity so that he can continue to develop Imo State as the Charter of Equity is not to serve individuals purposes but rather the zone.

“I believe in the Charter of Equity,” he said, maintaining that it has become a legislative document, with the bill on it passed into law by the Imo State House of Assembly.

The Governor acknowledged the accolades given to him by the leaders and people of Owerri zone, noting that he will not take it for granted. He said: “I will continue to work hard in order to live up to your expectations.”

He recalled that before his emergence as the Governor, Imo State had lost its glory and was faced with insecurity challenges, and expressed joy and gratitude to God that “Imo has been recovered to the glory of God.”

Uzodinma however pointed out that the political problem of Owerri zone is both internal and external, noting that to overcome such issues the people must create an atmosphere of peace, unity, tolerance, awareness, reconcile and be your brother’s keeper.

“Let us separate individual interest from collective interest,” Governor Uzodinma advised.

He regretted that what is being practised in Nigeria is partisan politics, maintaining that he will support his Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and her candidate when the time to choose his successor comes.

He noted that anyone that will succeed him must be able to drive the people’s agenda and not his own Agenda. “I will not solve all the problems of Imo State, but the person coming after me must be able to solve some,” the Governor stated.

Uzodinma reiterated that what Owerri zone should be looking for after his tenure is merit, bold and a courageous man.

He therefore enjoined them to play politics in a diplomatic manner and condemned primitive acquisition of wealth as exhibited by some unscrupulous politicians.

He further called on them to reconcile, come together and work as a team if they are desirous of succeeding in their quest to have his successor come from Owerri zone.

Captain Iheanacho recalled that in 1999, Nigeria had experienced a transition from Military rule to civil democracy. He said it was most fair to recognise based on the Charter of Equity, that Owerri zone produces the next Governor after Uzodinma.

Amb. Chikwe particularly noted that the meeting was important to the extent that those in attendance cut across Party lines and happy with his performance, and an indication that “everybody endorses His Excellency’s sense of equity and justice.”

The Hon. member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru in the House of Representatives, Akarachi Amadi informed the Governor that the people of Owerri zone are happy with him because he has shown them unquantifiable love. He promised, on behalf of Owerri Zone, their believe in the Governor and continuing loyalty and support to his administration.

Hon. Amadi noted that the Governor has empowered the zone well, by giving them Deputy Governor in his first and second tenure, and that through his numerous achievements, the whole Owerri Zone has collapsed into APC.

He further acknowledged that Owerri Zone has benefited immensely in the Governor’s administration both in infrastructural development and appointments to political offices.

He therefore, on behalf of Owerri Zone leaders, proposed a Vote of Confidence on the Governor which was seconded by the member representing Ahiazu Mbaise in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Samuel Otuibe, accompanied by his other colleagues from the Zone.

Similarly the motion for a confidence vote on Imo state Governor, His Excellency Hope Uzodinma received an affirmative response from all the delegation present.

With this development , it is evidently clear to all intending and emerging aspirants that the State Charter of equity stands and Governor Uzodinma will hand over power to a core Owerri zone capable Guber as 9News Nigeria reports.
