Following the take off of the Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA enforcement order to reclaim the Capital Territory from street trading, shanties and illegal parking, the Special Adviser/General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA, Engr. Francis Chukwu, met with Cabinet Chiefs of Hausa community at “Sarkin Imo” palace in the State, on Thursday.

9News Nigeria Owerri reports that the meeting was to interface with the community on the activities of occupants of shanties and street traders at the popular “Ama Hausa” market at Douglas road.

While addressing Hausa Community Douglas road, Engr. Chukwu said that the enforcement of city sanitization policy is anchored on the 3R mantra of Gov. Hope Uzodinma to restore the master plan of the city which will bring forth development, stressing that his visit was for the community Chiefs to look out for ways to assist the State Government in addressing issues of shanties and street trading in their market which contributes to the menace of traffic congestion at Douglas road.

The OCDA boss noted that Douglas road remians a Presidential route that connects directly to Imo Airport and should not be defaced by shanties and street trading just as he opined that spicy meat sellers otherwise known as Suya will have to leave the area, including those doing business at Mbaise road junction.

He affirmed that the State Government cherishes non-indigenes doing business in the State including the Northerners while thanking the leaders for receiving him and his Team even as he stressed that he looks forward that in weeks to come issues raised will be amicably resolved.

Earlier in his speech the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Northern Affairs, Hon. Sulaiman Ibrahim Sulaiman, hinted that the Shared Prosperity Administration of Gov. Uzodimma has shown great love to the Northerners residing in the State, especially by appointing their sons and daughters in various offices.

He promised that they will never sabotage the Government while pledging their support to Imo State Government through OCDA in reclaiming the city from shanties and street trading.

Highpoint of the day was when the OCDA GM Engr. Chukwu walked to Douglas road and Control Junction to carry out the second phase of the enforcement order.

With the latest decongestion and evacuation of shanties along major roads in Owerri the capital city of the state will no doubt restore the magnificent beauty of the Owerri master plan through the actions of the OCDA GM Engr Francis Chukwu and his team.
