The Minister of State for Works, Muhammad Goronyo, says the Federal government has made adequate budgetary provisions for the completion of roads across the county, while Katsina State alone has five.
He also pleaded with the state government to provide security to the construction firm, in other to ensure the timely execution of the projects.
“In Katsina State alone, five roads are set for execution to include Katsina-Kano dualisation road, Kano-Daura-Kongolom, and Kwanar Babangida-Kagara road, as well as Kafur-Dabai-Malumfashi and Katsina-Kazaure-Maiadua road”, he stated this while visiting the state on Sunday.
He said, “I’m in compliance with an order of the president to assess all projects started by the previous administration across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
“The federal government has made adequate budgetary provision for the completion of the ongoing projects and new ones initiated by the president.
“In line with the new policy, the state governments would now take the responsibility of the payment of compensation to owners of lands to be acquired for the road projects”.
The minister was received by the Deputy Governor, Farouk Jobec, at the Government House on behalf of Governor Dikko Radda.
9News Nigeria reports that the minister’s visit to the state was part of his familiarisation tour to the ongoing Federal Government projects particularly in the North West region of the country.
On his part, the Katsina State Deputy Governor, Faruk Jobe, reaffirmed government commitment to expedite the completion of the Katsina-Kano federal highway project.
He said that the state government would find a way out on the payment of compensation to owners of land used for the road project in line with the policy of the federal highway.
He also emphasised that it was necessary to ensure the project is commissioned as scheduled.
“The state government is passionate about the road project being one of the most important projects that would not only transform the economic activities in the State but improve the livelihood and security across the North West.”
He appreciated the federal government toward the completion of the ongoing federal projects in the State and for initiating new ones and promised adequate security to the construction firm to carry out the project.
