The woman who was believed to have been kidnapped on her way to the hospital to give birth had been found in Ilorin, Kwara State, after staging her own abduction out of fear.
The Ogun State Police Command has said a pregnant woman, Raheemat Lateef, who claimed to have been abducted by some unknown gunmen last week while going to the State Hospital at Ijaiye, Abeokuta for child delivery, faked the kidnap.
The Police Spokesman, SP Omolola Odutola disclosed this on her X handle.
Odutola said the woman faked the kidnapping after she discovered she had suffered another miscarriage to avoid the wrath of her husband who was naturally expecting her to be put to bed.
On Monday June 24, The Police discovered that Raheemat had flew to Kwara State to avoid her husband’s fury after having repeated miscarriages, and later returned to Abeokuta with her father.
Odutola giving an update on the incident said Raheemat Lateef who the husband reported abducted, was never abducted, but planned her journey to Kwara State, to escaped the wrath of her husband, because she has remained unlucky due to repeated miscarriages.
“She planned the stories, she travelled to Kwara State herself, she was not kidnapped. She had a miscarriage, frustrated due to repeated reoccurrences, feared her husband’s reaction, she orchestrated the script. The anti-Kidnapping team had started tracking her, till she showed up, she is under medical observation, and safe”
9News Nigeria earlier reported that Raheemat’s husband, Ogunbunmi Lateef said he received a WhatsApp message, informing him of his wife’s kidnap.
The Ogun State Police Spokesman, Omolola Odutola, in a statement had confirmed the incident but refused to give more details on the incident.
