A 32-year old business woman, Toyin Oludamisi, has dragged her husband of 6 years, Joseph Oludamisi, before a Customary Court at Mapo, Ibadan, and seeking divorce for being fetish.

Toyin also accused her husband of being irresponsible by not caring for their two children

She said that she had caught him using charms on their first child, and in a particular occasion, he attempted to use their first child for rituals.

In her testimony before the president of the court, Chief Ademola Odunade, the complainant said her husband “loves juju too much’ and was fond of drinking heavily.

Testifying before the court, Toyin said there was no love between them again.

“My husband does not have a meaningful source of income for the past 3 years, but he has money to buy alcoholic drinks, and also gives herbalists money to prepare juju for him.

“He had once attempted to use our first child for money rituals because the child was always falling sick.

“He relies on charms and was in the habit of performing fetish acts; I do not understand his way of life.

“We always have misunderstandings every now and then. He is irresponsible as he doesn’t take care of the children. I have been the one paying their school fees for over 5 years.

“I want this court to separate us because I am tired of his bad character but I pray the court to allow me have our two kids in my custody, “Toyin said.

Joseph, in his defence, denied the allegations and instead described the plaintiff as “an adulterer and irresponsible wife.’’

He accused her of dating several men in the course of their 6-year-old marriage, and showing lackadaisical attitude to the family affairs.

The court upheld the dissolution of the marriage as requested by the plaintiff and also gave the custody of the two children to the respondent.

The court also ordered the respondent to pay N9, 000 monthly allowances to support the upkeep of the three children.
