Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has cautioned that his successor might not share his religious and God-fearing values If the process of choosing the next governor is not transparent and democratic.
Addressing leaders from Owerri Zone at the Government House, Owerri, on Wednesday, Uzodimma said the Imo State Charter of Equity, which he introduced to promote fairness in power rotation among the three zones should only serve as a guide.
“The Charter of Equity is not a slogan for confusion. It is a document to remind us of the imbalance in the system and see how best to correct it.
“But we must work hand in hand with democratic processes. You must join me for us to cure this confusion.”, he noted.
He stressed that the Charter must work alongside democratic principles, warning:
“If we don’t, the man coming after me may not be religious and God-fearing as I am”.
