… we are poised to bring sanity to society- Ogba, DG
Newly-formed non-partisan, apolitical group, Ebonyi Social Media Forum over the weekend elected its Executives with a clear mandate to support and influence credible leadership through the use of various media platforms.
Director General of the group, Chris Nnanna Ogba in his acceptance speech noted that “Ebonyi is no doubt a good State. But if the citizenry is well and reliably informed, Ebonyi State could be better. Amidst the torrential information network which come with debris of lies, fabrications and cheap blackmail, the need for correct and reliable information becomes compelling.”
Ogba added that the group believes this to be true because correct and reliable pieces of information put clear choices before the masses and help them in making wholesomely sane choices.
“It is this overriding need to bring and strengthen sanity in Ebonyi State that informed the formation of Ebonyi Media Forum- a composition of courageous public affairs analysts, content developers and media practitioners desirous positive changes into Ebonyi State through correct, truthful and courageous dissemination of information and sensitization of the people”, he further remarked.
Also speaking, Secretary General of the group, Emeka Iboko commended the members for their peaceful and mature conducts and charged members to always protect the interests and vision of the group, geared towards bringing positive change in the State in particular and the society at large.
Said the group’s scribe, “I appreciate members of this noble platform because we all have the capacity to deliver on the mandate given to us which is to make our State and society better with our writing skills, platforms and every available resources. Let us therefore all set our minds to work towards achieving the noble objectives of this group.”
A frontline member of the group, Oguzor Nwali expressed strong optimism that the group would champion the course of the downtrodden in the State with their skills and tools especially in giving the public accurate and reliable information that can change the rhythm of mainstream and social media reportage in the State and beyond.
Other members elected to serve in the group’s Executive body include; Charles Otu- Publicity Secretary, Nwoba Chika Nwoba- Director of Contacts and Mobilization, Pauline Ucha- Treasurer and Robinson Nwachukwu- Financial Secretary.
Others are; Wisdom Nwedene- Welfare Officer and Ugama Steve- Leader of Legal team.
