Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum says three new federal institutions approved for the state will directly improve livelihoods through jobs, education, and healthcare.
Speaking in Bama on Sunday during a visit to residents affected by last week’s windstorm, Zulum highlighted the Federal College of Education, Gwoza; the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare; and the Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, Bama.
All three were approved under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Zulum said the institutions would expand access to specialized training and healthcare while creating employment opportunities for residents.
He noted that the university, college, and hospital are positioned to accelerate post-insurgency reconstruction and support economic recovery in the state.
The governor pointed to the recent appointment of pioneer officers for the Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, Bama, as a step toward immediate takeoff.
He recalled that Borno had already handed over the Umar Ibn Ibrahim El-Kanemi College of Education, Science, and Technology, Bama, to host the new university and approved ₦1 billion to support its start.
Similar support has gone to the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno; Federal College of Education, Gwoza; and National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare, with over ₦5 billion released to ensure smooth operations.
Zulum thanked President Tinubu for what he described as sustained attention to Borno’s recovery and development needs.
During the visit, he also inspected construction work at the 19 Brigade headquarters in Bama, linking security consolidation to the broader effort to restore civil authority and economic activity in the area.
