

The body of Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni has been committed to mother earth at his village in Langtang Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni the Sardauna Plateau and Nasarawa States, died on Thursday January 23, 2025 at the age of 82.
Represented by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Professor Nantawe Yiltwada,Tinubu described Useni as a man who dedictated his life to ensuring the cohesiveness of Nigeria, highlighting his role in promoting peace, and development during and after his service years.
In his remarks, Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang said General Useni’s life of impact improved stability and development across Nigeria, hence the need for people to emulate the large heart of the late General.
The guest speaker at the funeral Bishop Josiah Fearon, advised political and religious leaders to promote peace and unity among Nigerians.
“General Useni’s life is a testament to the idea that a good leader listens and responds to challenges of the people”, Fearon remarked, while remaining Nigerian leaders that their positions were not only a privilege but a responsibility to serve with integrity.
According to the bishop, it is ultimately God who bestows leadership and He will call leaders to account for all their actions one day. The remains of the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Lieutenant General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, was laid to rest after a 21- gun salute, beside his beloved wife, Mrs Julie Useni and their son Danjuma Nancwit Useni, who tragically passed away in a plane crash.
The burial site will serve as a lasting testament to the love and bond they shared.
