LAGOS, Nigeria – Popular Nigerian content creators Nons Miraj and Ashmusy have become the latest subjects of social media debate after a viral video captured them interacting with Gregory, widely known online as one of TikTok star Peller’s biggest gifters, during the star-studded wedding of Peller and Jarvis in Lagos last weekend.
The now-trending clip appeared to show the duo exchanging contact details with Gregory while engaging him in conversation during the lavish ceremony, a moment that quickly ignited thousands of reactions across Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and X.
While some social media users accused the entertainers of showing unusual interest in the foreign guest, others dismissed the criticism as baseless, insisting that the interaction reflected nothing more than networking at one of Nigeria’s biggest influencer gatherings.
Entertainment stakeholders who spoke with 9News Nigeria described the controversy as another example of how short viral videos often fuel public speculation without providing the complete picture.
According to them, celebrity weddings have increasingly become platforms where influencers, digital creators, investors, sponsors and brand partners establish new professional relationships, making the exchange of contacts a normal occurrence.
They warned against drawing conclusions from a few seconds of footage, stressing that no evidence has emerged suggesting any inappropriate conduct by those involved.
Media managers and Journalists who spoke with our correspondent also noted that in today’s creator economy, relationships built through networking frequently translate into business partnerships, content collaborations and international opportunities.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Nons Miraj, Ashmusy nor Gregory had publicly addressed the online reactions generated by the viral clip.
The incident once again highlights the growing influence of social media, where a brief moment captured on camera can rapidly evolve into a nationwide conversation, often leaving public opinion sharply divided over perception and reality.
The wedding of Peller and Jarvis attracted leading entertainers, influencers, content creators and celebrities from across Nigeria, making it one of the country’s most talked-about entertainment events of the weekend.
