NSCDC Deploys 2, 250 Personnel To Lagos Ahead Of Eid-el-Fitr

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, has deployed 2,250 personnel to ensure safety of lives and property during Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Lagos State Commandant of NSCDC, Adedotun Keshinro, gave the figure while briefing reporters in Lagos on Friday.

9News Nigeria reports that Eid-el-Fitr, also called Festival of Breaking the Fast, is celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset  Ramadan fast.

Keshinro stated that the deployment of personnel followed Federal Government’s declaration of Monday and Tuesday public holiday to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.

He stressed that the deployed officers and men were drawn from various departments, units, divisions and area commands of the NSCDC across the state.

“This is to ensure that lives and property are safe and secure as well as to protect critical national assets and infrastructure before, during and after the celebration,” he said.

He listed the assests and infrastructure to inlude manholes, telecommunication cables, fibres and masts, as well as closed circuit television cameras, electricity transformers, oil and gas pipelines and water pipes.

Keshinro therefore felicitated Muslims, just as he urged peace, love and unity among residents of the state in line with the teachings of the Quran.

The commandant therefore warned vandals and other criminals to repent or face the wrath of the law.
