Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Retired Lt General Jeremiah Useni.

General Useni, a distinguished military officer and statesman, passed away on Thursday at the age of 82 after battling a protracted illness.

In a statement, Senator Kalu described the late General as a patriotic leader who dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria. He noted that General Useni’s passing is a monumental loss, not only to his immediate family but also to the Nigerian Armed Forces, Plateau State, and the nation at large.

“Lt General Jeremiah Useni was a selfless leader whose contributions to the development of Nigeria, particularly during his time as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, cannot be forgotten. His commitment to the unity and progress of the nation was remarkable,” Kalu said.

The Senator extended his condolences to the Useni family, the people of Plateau State, and the Nigerian Armed Forces. He prayed for God to grant the family and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, and he asked for divine comfort to guide them in the difficult days ahead.

“The nation has lost a great statesman, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come,” Kalu added.
