The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has clarified the party’s stance regarding the ongoing political tensions involving Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In an interview conducted yesterday, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda stated that the dispute between Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Fubara falls outside the jurisdiction of the APC.
“When it comes to the issue between Wike and Fubara, it is not within my purview as the national chairman of APC. Wike is affiliated with the PDP, while Fubara is a member of the APC,” he stated.
He further elaborated that the ongoing impeachment issues pertain exclusively to APC members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, which is led by the party.
“The matter of impeachment does not involve Wike at present; it concerns APC members within the Rivers State House of Assembly. This is an internal matter, and we possess established mechanisms within APC to resolve such issues,” he added.
The chairman underscored the importance of discretion and maturity in managing internal party affairs.
“We do not publicize these matters publicly. Disputes can be addressed through internal processes that require maturity and effective management. Wike does not pose a problem within APC,” he concluded.
